Natural Fermentation

The process of lacto-fermentation is one in which natural bacteria feed on the sugar and starch in foods creating lactic acid. This not only preserves the food but creates beneficial enzymes, B-vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids and various strains of probiotics.

York Meadow Farm produces small, hand-crafted, batches of different fermented foods on our homestead in Medina, Ohio.

We give our customers healthy and delicious lacto-fermented vegetables. We expand people’s palates and demonstrate the versatility of lacto-fermented foods in the kitchen.

Naturally fermented foods are nutrient dense and nourishing.

Rich in probiotics, our fermented foods are also paleo and keto friendly.

Foods aligned with what many consider a proper human diet.

Soil-Grown Produce

Grown by Cody Matthew Grey

York Meadow Farm works together with our community, farming cooperatively with others in our local farmers market community.

We believe in working with and supporting others within our community through a tenant farmer program here on the farm.

Literally and figuratively, we share common ground - fusing old traditions with new techniques and a desire to live a new path.

I grow good food for people who like good food.

Our mission is to provide locally grown, healthy food, using sustainable organic methods. We are dedicated to promoting permaculture ideas of earth care, people care, and fair share.

We want to be as close to nature as possible and to contribute some way to the growth of the worldwide transition from chemically based to biologically based agricultural systems.

We feed the soil biology, the soil feeds the plants, the plants feed us.

The Founders

Robert J. Kaiser, Jr. and Denise Kaiser purchased the land where York Meadow Farm is located in Medina, Ohio in 2005.

At that time, the land was being conventionally farmed in grain, as it had been for decades. We got a close look at conventional farming and wanted nothing to do with it on family land.

Five years after purchasing the land, Bob Kaiser assembled the family to plant approximately 100 blueberry bushes in June 2010.

The following season in 2011, Bob and Denise made their first appearance at the Medina Farmers Market, located in the beautiful Medina Public Square Historic District in downtown Medina, Ohio.

We enjoy building and developing new skills as a former suburban family learning to build our own small-acre regenerative farm and homestead businesses from scratch!
